Once you have exited the job world to begin your entrepreneurial career, you will probably realize in short order that your success (or lack thereof) depends solely on you. Your small business enterprise is thus much more likely to run on a limited operating budget. You are doing virtually everything on your own. You are now the boss, secretary, the sales manager all rolled into one. Kind of like being a Film Star who takes on the burden of directing, producing and editing. It is much more difficult yet the actor has more freedom and control. So too does the entrepreneur. Bear in mind however that if you always do it all yourself, you may eventually restrict your growth.

During the beginning, refrain from engaging in a full-scale marketing effort unless and until you have the extra capital needed. Allow your advertising to grow at a natural pace which matches your businesses' growth. In the very beginning at least, direct your cash flow right back into your business so as to improve your infrastructure and customer service since this is where your expansion money for the next growth phase is actually going to come from. Avoid using early profits for personal expenses that are not necessities but instead pay yourself a prudent salary and put the rest right back into your business endeavor. It does take some discipline to do this but will allow your business to grow and ultimately thrive!

Early in your business, you might simply wish to go with a low cost alternative instead of taking on any large expenditure's. So avoid buying anew fax machine or computer if you can manage with a less expensive used one. Be spartan with your resources. You may be able to use an accounting software program as a temporary replacement for hiring an accountant. You may be able to obtain temporary help from a temp agency too.

In addition, there are obviously many tasks that you can perform on your own when you start that might take time but will save funds. Instead of hiring a SEO professional, for example, you can take a free online tutorial or read a book and optimize your site for the search engines and directories yourself (not really that hard to do). You can also distribute flyers and brochures manually whenever possible.
